Kiwanis Club of Milwaukee Celebrates Its 100th Anniversary Year
Milwaukee, WI – The Kiwanis Club of Milwaukee will celebrate its 100th Anniversary year with many special events and speakers. The 100th year begins October 1, 2015 and ends September 30, 2016. The Kiwanis Club of Milwaukee was founded November 23, 1916 and is the “flagship” club of Kiwanis International.
This fall’s highlights include keynote speaker John Gurda, who will describe how the Kiwanis Club of Milwaukee and its members helped shape Milwaukee over the past 100 years. We are also featuring speakers Senator Alberta Darling, and a Navy Admiral who will be in Milwaukee for the commissioning of the USS Milwaukee. More speakers will be announced throughout the year.
“We will be having a really cool fundraising event and street party next June,” according to President, Joe Wilson, “so make sure to watch for more information in Spring 2016. Our street party will include food trucks, music, and a dump truck full of tennis balls! And everyone who works downtown is invited!”
To keep with the “100” theme, the Kiwanis Club of Milwaukee will also be expanding their service programs, such as planting 100 trees in April, donating 100 gifts for kids in December, and collecting 100 duffel bags for youth in the foster care system in January. “Every month of the year,” Wilson explains, “we will complete a service project involving the number ‘100’ that benefits the children and youth of the greater Milwaukee area, our Aktion Club members (adults with disabilities), or the environment. It is a great time to be a Kiwanis Club of Milwaukee member. Come join us!”
Celebrating its 100th year, Kiwanis Club of Milwaukee consists of members who volunteer their time to help Milwaukee area children, and the environment.
